Sanctity of Life
I believe life is a precious gift from God. Through their attempts to justify their personal behavior, some in our society has tried to reduce the value of life. I oppose abortion and am horror-struck by the numbers we see across our state and across our nation. I will fight to protect all innocent life. I will fight to make sure our laws require citizens to take responsibility for their actions and not hide beneath the term “choice”.
In my belief that life is a gift from God, I am committed to fighting those who would diminish life to a scientific experiment. The right to life of human beings must be respected at every state of their biological development. I will oppose the taking of living human embryos from in vitro fertilization clinics and harvesting their stem cells. I support research on stem cells obtained without killing human embryos.
Some researchers have proposed creating human life through cloning, a process wherein genetic material would be artificially transferred into an egg cell from which the nuclear material has been removed, thereby beginning the life of a new human individual. Cloning is being promoted in order to perform destructive experiments on embryonic human beings, which would cause their deaths, or to scavenge cloned humans’ bodies for cells, tissue, and organs, resulting in their deaths. I find it hard to believe that many who support such activities are the very ones who oppose medical experiments on animals. We must preserve not just life, but defend the value of life.
